Sam Hamill

Sam Hamill is a nationally known poet that lives in Port Townsend. He is one of the original founders of "Poets Against the War." His poems appear on the columns in the Memories Vault stonegarden at Fort Worden. This vault held the orginal building plans for Fort Worden. Here, he reads his poem titled "What the Water Knows."

Sam Hamill's poetry is as close as human beings come to hearing Ezra Pound's ear in this new millennium. Far East scholar, one of the last real links to the Beats and Rexroth's San Francisco scene. He is a unique American treasure.
